How to shave a beard



Beards are one of the things that make a man look masculine hence they need to be cared for well. It is essential that you shave your beard frequently depending on the kind of look you like however, if you are not so much into shaving, you may need to be trimming the beard frequently. In order to have a good shave, you need to master the art of shaving. The art of shaving involves knowing the various important techniques for shaving and the various essential products to achieve a good shave.

If you have a full beard with long hair, you may need to trim the beard first with scissors. If you do not do this, you may have trouble shaving the beard when you wet the hair. This is because longer hair will be slippery and will make the blade blunt.

Once you have trimmed the beard, you should then thoroughly wet the beard. Wetting the hair leads to absorption of water by the beard up to around 30% making the hair weak thus much easier to shave. If you do not wet the hair, you will certainly experience razor burn or irritation.


A shaving brush is among the most important tools that will ensure you shave perfectly. Shaving brushes are important as they raise the hair so that people can have a closer cut; it removes dead cells reducing the chances of blemishes and creates a creamy lather with the cream that stays very close to the skin. Apply a suitable shaving cream while using the brush in a circular motion while ending in an upward stroke to lift the beard and ensure it is away from your face. Getting a suitable shaving cream that lathers well is important if you want to have a close shave.

It is very important to get the right kind of blade for the shave depending on the coarseness of the beard. Start shaving from one side as you move towards the other side making light, short downward strokes. When you are done, rinse your face with warm water to find out if you missed anything. Once you discover a particular area that you have not shaved, apply some shaving cream to that area and gently pass the blade over the area. When you are done with this and you are sure you have shaved all areas, rinse your face with cold water and pat dry with a clean towel.

The art of shaving is mastered over time and you cannot simply learn how to shave with just the first shave. You need to shave frequently over for some time in order to become a pro at shaving. You need to know that mastering the art of shaving is not only about knowing various techniques used in shaving. It also involves using the right kind of shaving products when shaving. A combination of great shaving techniques and good shaving products results to a clean shave.
